Say Cheese!

Say Cheese!

Say Cheese! Working on the United Dairyman commercial for cheese took days. I started out with 4, 12 x 14 x 8 “ blocks of a variety of cheeses. Each block had a catchy quote front AND back…(you rock Drake -Cooper).

Carving with an exacto knife for hours for two to three days, I rotated each flavor of “mega block” cheese to keep them chilled and hold the integrity, being careful to keep them covered to prevent them from drying out. The cameramen used a special lens, and the cheese was placed on a lazy susan to turn easily for the front and back shots. It still amazes me how many hours of prep goes into preparing food for photography for a 30 second commercial. When we were finished, I wrapped them up and kept them in the fridge. Good this, because couple of days later  we needed to reshoot due to a glitch in the camera lens. (Always a good lesson to hang on to items just in case.) Not only were these TV commercials but they were also used for promotional pieces and billboards.
